How many anglers can you take?

In general, shark fishing is most proficient with as few anglers as possible.  That being said, I am legally allowed six passengers.  The ideal trip would be one to three anglers.  I will fill my boat to maximum capacity at your request.  Keep in mind, more anglers equals less fishing fun per angler.

Where do you meet the boat?

I can depart from several locations.  The easiest to find is the Community Dock under the north side of the Darien Bridge. There are 4 or 5 parking spaces to the west of the bridge.  You may contact me to discuss possible other pick-up locations.

Can you keep a shark?

To help protect the excellent fishery in the area, I release almost all sharks.  That is what the “Friendly” part of Shark Friendly is all about.  The fish you catch today is the very same fish that was released yesterday.

Do you need a fishing license?

Fishing licenses are not required when you are fishing aboard my boat.

What time do we depart?

Unless otherwise arranged, my six-hour trip leaves the dock at 8:00 a.m.  Our tides have six-hour duration from high to low, fishing just before and just after the turn of any tide is usually the best.  Therefore, I may suggest an earlier or later departure time to take advantage of the tides.  You may request a starting time.

How do you pay for your trip?

I accept cash or checks only.  Payment is due upon completion of your trip.  Multi-day charter balances are due upon completion of each day.  Since there are no cancellation fees, I request cancellation notification as soon as possible prior to your scheduled trip.

What is the reservation deposit policy?

I do not require any reservation deposits, but I request cancellation notification as soon as possible prior to your scheduled trip.

What should you bring?

  • There is limited space, bring the food and drinks of your choice and we will transfer them to coolers on the boat.  Beer and wine is fine.
  • White cotton shirts are the most comfortable or long sleeved fishing shirts.
  • Billed caps or wide brim hat with strings help shade your face.
  • Bathing suits bottoms or shorts help with the heat.
  • In colder conditions, multi layers of clothing are a must.
  • Light colored soled shoes are requested if you have them.
  • Sunscreen with SPF of 30 or more will make you more comfortable.  The sun is brutal on the water and will burn you much faster.
  • You should consider a long sleeved shirt and a pair of slacks that you can change into if you get to much sun.
  • Sunglasses, if they are prescription, have some way to connect them to your head.
  • Something from your drug store to combat sea-sickness is important if you are susceptible.
  • Cameras and recording equipment are welcome.

What should you not bring?

  • Fishing tackle, fishing license, rods and reels, live and dead bait, ice, coolers and a friendly attitude are all provided by me.  You may bring fishing equipment if you wish.
  • Do not bring illegal drugs or paraphernalia.
  • Do not bring firearms.
  • GPS or Loran equipment is permitted.
